Graduation Reception Picture

Can you believe Graduation Day is almost here? We are in the planning stages for the 8th Grade Graduation Reception. We ask that each family provide us with a framed photo of their 8th grader (preferably an 8x10). It can be a recent photo or any favorite photo you'd like to use for the centerpiece on your family's table at the reception. Please have the framed photo to Rena no later than Wednesday, May 25th. Any questions, please feel free to contact Patty Zuberbier at pkzub@tds.net or Sue Daniels at daniels6wi@sbcglobal.net,
Thank you!

Farewell Fiesta

We will be having our final Farewell Fiesta at the end of May. In order to serve a big meal like that for both the 7th and 8th grades, I will need a lot of help. There is a sign up sheet in the lobby asking for food items, paper goods, help with setup, serving, clean up... Thank you to those who have already signed up, but I need quite a few more parents to help. Please take the time to stop and see if there is any area you can assist.

Thanks!
Peggy Prekop

Educational field trip to Camp Phillip

Camp Phillip 5,6,7,8th

Dear Parents,
There will be 9 students per adult chaperone in each cabin. The cabins have flush toilets and bunk beds. We plan on leaving at 8:30 and should arrive around 11:00. There will be a brief orientation before our sack lunch. After lunch we will prepare for the ropes course. The 5/6th grades will be doing the low ropes course and the 7/8th will be doing the high ropes. If they choose not to climb they will be there to encourage others and observe. We will also participate in outdoor games such as Pall Ball and disc golf. After dinner there will be geo caching and Bible study, campfire, sing a long and bedtime (10:00). In the morning after breakfast we will clean the cabins and have time for a game or two before packing up and returning to St. Jacobi. Camp Phillip asks that no electronics be brought along (except for a camera). The chaperones will have phones in case you need to reach us. I am asking chaperones to car pool if possible to carry bedding, luggage and our sack lunches. If you are willing to drive please let me know so I can help with the car pool list. If you have any other questions please contact me at school (425-2040) or home (427-6153)
Our goals for camp are to develop a stronger faith, encourage cooperation and teamwork and enjoy Gods creation. We look forward to a great trip.

T-shirts and Garbage Cans

The students in grades 5-8 will be performing a musical/drama extravaganza. The costuming for most students will be rather simple. They will need to wear nice jeans, no holes or tears, as well as a T-shirt. The T-shirt should be the color of their Kickball Kickoff/Track & Field team color. The T-shirt should be a solid color with no printing on it. If your child needs one, JoAnne Fabrics has colored T-shirts for around $5. Students should have their T-shirts at school on Monday, April 11th.

Also, one of the acts needs 7 clean metal garbage cans. They will be hit with drumsticks. Are you willing to donate or loan us one(or more)?

Thank you for your help and cooperation,

Mr. Frisque & Mrs. Prekop

Picture Deadline Just Around The Corner

Just a reminder to keep digging for those pictures for the 8th grade graduation power point. The deadline is coming up on us very quickly. We ask that all pictures be turned in by Monday, March 21st to allow time for the Spaudes and Caitlin to put the presentation together. It's a very time consuming job, so the sooner they receive your pictures the more time they have to put it all together. Thanks for your help!

Mr. Frisque

Toilet Paper Reminder

Please remember to send a couple of roles of (ULTRA-STRONG) toilet paper with your child. It would also be a good idea for them to look for pictures of prepared food that they may want to use as a model for their sculptures. Thanks again for your help!

Next 8th Grade Breakfast, Feb. 25th

Looks like I'll be serving up another breakfast for our 8th grade the morning of Feb. 25. I'll be making breakfast enchiladas for the group, and Mrs. Spaude will be providing cinnamon buns. I'm asking each of the 8th graders to donate $2.00 a piece toward the cost of the breakfast. This will include most of the ingredients for the enchiladas, orange juice, plates, cups, plastic ware... The 8th grade voted to do it this way rather than bringing food items for my recipe. Please have the money to me by next Friday the 18th.

Pictures For 8th Grade Power Point

Hey!!! It's already time to start digging in your photo albums and boxes for those precious pics of your 8th grade kids. Jamie and Caitlin, along with the help of Pastor Spaude, will be putting your power point together for the graduation reception. I will be sending an envelope home sometime next week explaining which pictures will be needed. Putting this together is a lot of work, so we'll need the pictures as soon as possible so they can start working on the presentation. Thanks for your help, and happy digging!

Science Research Paper

The 8th grade will be starting their science research papers next week. They were told yesterday that they are to have their project chosen by next Weds., Feb.16. They have received sheets describing the criteria for the science fair. They are not allowed to do a collection project, and will be marked down if they do anything less than an experiment in conjunction to their paper. A wonderful resource for them to use for their projects is sciencebuddies.org. Please know that they will have very little, if any time to work on their papers at school, so they should allow adequate time at home to work. I will be handing out a schedule sometime next week.

Thank you for your help!

Lunch Following The Magic Bicycle

All moms are invited to lunch following "The Magic Bicycle" this Thursday. We will be eating at Sobelmans Grill-1900 west St. Paul Avenue. (414-931-1919) The Travel Channel's "Food Wars" show visited Sobelman's last April to do a story on their nationally known burgers. In honor of the Green Bay victory, they just added "The Spank" burger to their menu-a prime angus beef patty dripping with wisconsin nacho cheddar cheese and topped with fresh pico de gallo. Burger platters run around six to seven dollars.

Thank you!
